Aspen Tech is currently seeking a Field Sales Account Manager based in our European head office in Reading, UK, a with a proven track record of sales success. The individual we seek is a sales professional who is highly motivated, a self starter with excellent business acumen. A thorough understanding of executing a sales campaign to closure and managing strategic accounts is required. The Field Sales Account Manager will be responsible for selling software licenses and consulting services directly to a group of assigned European customer accounts.


The Sales Account Manager manages the day to day sales process in nominated accounts and is responsible for delivering the sales strategy at account level, pipeline development, and providing sales management with timely account updates and sales forecasts.


  • Manage day to day sales process, coordinate account meetings, and coordinate sales support resources
  • Develop and maintain customer contacts at assigned accounts and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Achieve quarterly and annual sales quota by opening, qualifying and closing sales opportunities
  • Achieve assigned objectives of sales pipeline development to support future sales and business planning
  • Accurately maintain Sales database and provide sales and executive management with account updates, sales forecasts, etc.
  • Coordinate and lead multidivisional account teams
  • Work as a team member on sales efforts involving global account opportunities



  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (not essential) and/or business or relevant technical subject preferred
  • Process industry experience essential
  • Good knowledge of Energy, Chemical or Engineering sectors
  • Demonstrated track record in successful direct sales of software solutions
  • Extensive experience selling to customers in the Engineering, Energy or Chemical industries
  • Familiarity with AspenTech's tools and solution is a plus
  • Demonstrated success in direct sales of software solutions.


  • Have a proactive consultative selling approach and strategic account management skills
  • Proficient at establishing and cultivating consultative relationships
  • Able to proactively use own initiative to start to define account strategy
  • Able to demonstrate strong communication skills
