    As a member of the R&D Technology Team, you will develop fast, reliable code that transforms concepts into platforms and products. You will define best practices that will shape the next generation of Aspen software. We are looking for a sharp and creative individual with 8+ years of software development experience. You will leverage your skills and passion for emerging technology in Cloud, IoT, Edge and Big Data to drive AspenTech’s Asset Optimization strategy to expand our Industrial Internet of Things platform with advanced capabilities in the areas of Analytics, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Predictive Maintenance Analytics and Prescriptive Guidance.


    • Act as a leader, mentor, and contributor on software design and development best practices
    • Define specifications, technical guidelines, and application best practices
    • Design, develop, test, and debug new and existing software products and utilities
    • Use new and emerging technology to shape product directions and implement product vision
    • Assist in documenting requirements as well as resolving conflicts or ambiguities


    • 8+ years’ experience software architecture, design, development and implementation of large-scale enterprise software products
    • 1 to 2 years’ hands-on experience developing C, Go or Python microservices and networking applications.
    • Experience with modern application development methodologies, environments, and processes (e.g. IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, multitenant, microservices and 12-factor)
    • Experience in one or more of the following programming languages; C, C++, C#, Go and Python
    • Experience in XML, JSON and Distributed Messaging Systems
    • Experience in delivering RESTful APIs and SDKs
    • Experience with RDBMS (e.g. SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle DB)
    • Experience with advanced Data Lake technologies; NoSQL, Hadoop, Spark, Hive, etc.
    • Knowledge of IoT components (sensors, edge, hub, etc.) and IoT protocols (OPC-UA, MQTT, Modbus, AMQP, etc.)
    • Experience in Unix/Linux and embedded environments
    • Experience in low level network programming
    • Experience in Test Automation frameworks and Test-Driven Development practices
    • Experience in DevOps, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery, and related tooling
    • Strong verbal and written communications skills and ability to interact with multiple teams
    • Ability to work in teams and partner/collaborate with groups outside of R&D
    • Ability to prioritize, participate in and track multiple projects in parallel
    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or similar field


    • Experience developing protocol adapters and simulators
    • Experience in one or more specific IoT industry (e.g. home automation, business automation, health, asset tracking, smart utilities)
    • Experience with Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive technologies
    • Knowledge of chemistry, petroleum and process verticals along with business would be a plus
