AspenTech is looking for a Principal Business Consultant for our new product suite, aspenONE® Asset Performance Management™ (APM), with a focus on the ProMV software suite. The aspenONE APM suite will enable companies to optimize their assets throughout the entire plant lifecycle.


The ProMV software suite enables customers to quickly extract insight from their plant operating data to improve product quality, product yield and production capacity. This can be implemented through offline analysis or through ProMV models run online 24/7.



  • Provide customer-facing support of sales activities by demonstrating expertise in data driven process analysis, troubleshooting and optimization.  Lead technical sales support for assigned opportunities to maximize product and service bookings.  
  • Apply consultative skills in customer-facing situations to identify customer problems and understand their business and operational issues.  Facilitate customer understanding of ProMV process optimization solution technical functionality, impact on process troubleshooting and optimization, and value creation.
  • Collaborate with sales account managers in strategic and tactical planning activities to penetrate within the AspenTech markets.
  • Participate and/or lead customer consulting engagements to facilitate sales, including workshops, pilots, value assessments, and seminars.
  • Deliver technical presentations to customers, and be able to answer detailed questions.  Perform software demonstrations for customers as required.
  • Develop commercial proposals for assigned opportunities.  Respond to RFI/RFQ/RFP questionnaires as required.
  • Proactively support pipeline development (e.g. account planning, awareness sessions, etc) and sales execution for assigned accounts and opportunities.  Execute campaigns to grow ProMV revenue within assigned accounts.
  • Provide post-sales support to ensure that customers receive the expected value add and are happy with the installed software/services.  Ensure long term relationships are nurtured.
  • Provide feedback to Product Management on customer feedback on our software products, recommendations for improvements/enhancements and new opportunities in the market.
  • Accountable for achieving personal targets such as productivity, bookings and other Business Consulting related targets.


  • B.S. in an engineering discipline required (e.g. chemical)
  • 8 - 10 years of experience in the process or manufacturing industries
  • Familiarity with both continuous and batch manufacturing processes
  • Prior experience with AspenTech’s product suite is a plus
  • Strong business acumen.  Adept at performing customer interviews, identifying improvement opportunities, and overcoming resistance to change
  • Flexibility to travel (50%) 
  • Chemical, specialty chemical, pharma and/or food industry experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of closed-loop real-time optimization a plus
