    The Sr. Director of China Finance will serve as the business partner for the country manager in China.  As the business partner, the Sr. Director of China Finance will; manage the China P&L ensuring that financial targets are met, manage the revenue recognition processes, and produce accurate and timely planning, analysis, and reporting on China sales activities and overall financial performance.  This position will work with the other cross functional members of Finance, the Sales Team, Legal and Sales Operations to assist with structuring customer agreements, management of the agreement approval process and ensuring customer contracts comply with the applicable external revenue recognition guidance and internal company standards and policies. This position will be instrumental in increasing productivity through process improvement and building best in class reporting and analysis capabilities.


    • Provide strategic advice to the country manager on the achievement of financial goals and objectives.
    • Review and aid in the structure of complex, multi-element agreements to support compliance with applicable external authoritative literature and internal guidelines for the China region.
    • Manage the review process for all customer facing literature to ensure all documents are compliant with internal and external revenue related policies.
    • Work with cross-functional groups on a pre-sales basis to ensure that agreements are structured in a way that ensures revenue will be recognized properly while following all commercial internal policies and procedures.
    • Develop and monitor key performance metrics including bookings, billings, revenue and spending, utilization, backlog, and pipeline. 
    • Responsible for rolling up forecast revenue and functional expense categories within Business Units.
    • Complete month-end and quarter end deliverables including all required analysis as well as internal and external audit related documentation (Sarbanes-Oxley).
    • Support the implementation of ASC 606.
    • Ensure accurate and timely production of internal management reporting and analyses using MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and reporting & analytic software. 
    • Ability to review and enhance current processes within a structured environment.
    • Other duties as needed.


    • 5+ years of finance experience including 'Big Four' Public Accountant experience and/or extensive applicable experience in private industry.
    • Minimum of 5 years of prior experience with revenue recognition in a software license and services environment.
    • An experienced finance business partner in a Software organization, with strong knowledge in revenue recognition for software licenses/services and direct bidding.
    • Experience assisting a Chinese Sales Leader with P&L management, driving the growth in China (includes FP&A/Accounting & Reporting)
    • Significant experience working in a foreign enterprise in China and ability to lead AspenTech to enter transactions through our Chinese legal entities.
    • Superior analytical skills, with experience in the revenue management of a high-tech software company.
    • Experience with ASC 605 and ASC 606 (SOP 97-2, SOP 81, SAB 104 and EITF 08-1).
    • Strong work ethic, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
    • Strong communication skills required including the ability to convey information in a clear and concise manner to all different levels throughout the organization.
    • Salesforce, Oracle ERP and OBI experience a plus.
    • Strong expertise in office productivity tools (Microsoft Office, Business Objects, Hyperion, etc.).
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business required.
    • CPA strongly preferred.
    • Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese
